ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – Focus Restaurants Concepts is a restaurant group operating an umbrella of food businesses in the Upper Peninsula. Focus Concepts just recently closed on the purchase of Ishpeming Townships’ popular Italian food business “Mama Russo’s”, which features homemade Italian food. The purchase of the family-owned business will help grow the catering it offers and also assist other Focus Restaurant-owned businesses, such as Border Grill and the Yoop Coop.
“I think John and Jean again really wanted to have somebody purchase the business that had some trust and some faith in it was pretty amazing John trained myself and Gavin with family recipes that go back generations and share those with us,” said Executive Chef Nathan Mileski.
Chef Mileski commented that he worked closely with the owners Jean and John Kohornen, and learned more about keeping the legacy of the homemade Italian recipes in the UP.
“Mama Russo’s caters from east to west, north to south so we knew it had a strong following and a strong presence it really felt good for us to keep those traditions through those communities going,” continued Mileski.
