Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. (WZMQ) – Around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, Chippewa County Central Dispatch received information suggesting threat(s) of violence with a firearm were made by someone toward the My Michigan Hospital in
Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
The hospital was notified and went into lockdown mode. The Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fire Departments responded to the hospital along with officers from other local agencies. Responding officers provided security for the hospital and investigated the threat(s). Investigating officers located the suspect who made the alleged threats on Sugar Island.
The hospital is no longer in lockdown mode, and there is no threat to the safety of the public. No arrests
have been made.
In addition to the Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fire Departments, responding agencies consisted of
the Michigan State Police, Border Patrol, and Sault Tribe Police Department.
