Iron Mountain’s city council considered a plan at yesterday’s council meeting for a $25 million expansion to the Pine Mountain Ski and Golf Resort. The owners of the resort, Storie Co., were in attendance along with representatives from the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance, both in support of the proposed plan.
City Manager Jordan Stanchina discussed the council’s decision. “Storie Co. has come in and purchased the Pine Mountain property and is looking to make some improvements, which include some improvements that will be made available to the public. Part of that effort was to look at using a Brownfield Tax Capture to help facilitate some of those economic development dollars, and the council discussed, has had some previous meetings, and ultimately approved the plan tonight for the Brownfield redevelopment of that property.”
Already, the resort has implemented new employee benefits packages for current staff at Pine Mountain, and the redevelopment is expected to bring in around twenty to thirty more jobs, as well as new public amenities to the city.
