MUNISING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is looking for students 15-18 to participate in the summer youth program, Youth Conservation Corps (YCC).
The program will run from June 19th through August 11th, employing students to work and learn on the trails in the Upper Peninsula.
“It’s really exciting for the kids to get to work here Pictured rocks for the national park service, they’re excited to come work for the park for the same reasons that we work here. It’s a beautiful area of the Upper Peninsula,” said Pictured Rocks official Mark Liles.
The youth program has raised its hourly rate to $15/hour and the deadline to apply is May 1st. “Most days our office views are world-class and pretty hard to beat and they get to work in the backcountry and do some really exciting projects that impact potentially hundreds of thousands of people over their life,” continued Liles.
Students interested in the program get applications from the YCC website. Applications are to be sent to the park’s mailing address P.O. Box 40, Munising MI 49862, or dropped off at the park’s headquarters building, N8391 Sand Point Road, Munising MI 49862.
