MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Qualified Michigan residents who are first-year students may get free tuition for four years at Northern Michigan University. Spokesperson, Derek Hall says this program provides students needing financial help the means to further their education.
Hall said, “Our plan is to you know get rid of the barriers for attending, and if tuition is a barrier to a student and their family, this is a great opportunity.”
The award is available for eight semesters as long as the student continues to qualify for the Michigan achievement scholarship and maintains eligibility for the federal Pell Grant while meeting NMU’s satisfactory academic progress standards.
