MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – NMU theatre is exploring a more intense side of theatre with the lyrical drama “Salome”. The play is written from the biblical story of Matthew and Mark. Playwriter Oscar Wilde had a history of writing this unique intensity and the NMU Director Dr. David Wood said “One manifestation of that is that the actual time the play takes an hour and five minutes is actual lived experience in the play.
“This is a play that starts with a garden party and a cocktail party and a burst of laughter and in an hour and five minutes later ends with a head on a platter”, continued Wood.
Salome is said to be an ominous play filled with drama and death. Actor Kendyl Dahlstrom commented this is a play the community does not want to miss. “I think it’s an incredible show to come watch. If you’re really looking for something different something very up close and personal it’s very intensive and it makes you question what’s going on”, Dahlstrom noted.
There will be performances on February 24-25 and March 1-4. Click here for more information on “Salome”.
