MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Upper Peninsula skiers will have a chance this weekend to see a film all about skiing in the state of Michigan.
Mike King is a professional skier and filmmaker who has spent the last decade traveling the country to produce films about winter sports. The Covid-19 pandemic forced King back to Michigan, where he rediscovered all of the skiing opportunities the state had to offer.
Tomorrow night at the Kaufman Auditorium he will be showing off his film “Lake Effect” which was filmed over the past 2 years. King says “As soon as I went to the ski hill with my family it was a rediscovery of the michigan ski culture and community I had forgotten about, the film turned into something much more special, about coming home and realizing what’s important.”
The showing will be at 7pm Saturday night with a meet and greet prior at 6pm.
