ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – In April, the Partridge Creek Farms is partnering with the Superior Bee Keeping club to create an apprenticeship program to help educate the community about BeeKeeping.
Beekeeping is said to be a big experiment, with creatures that pollinate around a third of the food that we consume. Partridge Creek Farms in partnership with Superior Bee Keeping Club has opened an apprenticeship program to help educate the young community about beekeeping.
Towards the end of the season, apprentices will have learned everything from introducing your colony to harvesting honey. “All the beekeepers have very very different ways to winterize their bees and that’s part of the apprenticeship”, said Dir. May Tsupros.
Their goal is to get people working with these colonies, hands-on, from April all the way through the growing season.
“We’ll be exploring different options for how to keep bees and we’re gonna be actually going and taking different field trips to different apiaries and seeing how others keep their bees too”
