MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – It was recently announced that the Upper Peninsula Health Plan was ranked among the top Medicare and Medicaid providers in the country.
The announcement stems from the 2022 Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey. The survey gives members of systems across the country the opportunity to rate their providers.
Areas that members can rate can include many topics such as their health plan, customer service, communication with doctors, or how quickly they can get seen for services.
“This rating is something our team looks forward to seeing every year, we’re very committed to taking care of our members, which are also our friends and neighbors,” said Melissa Holmquist, CEO of UPHP. “So this rating really means a lot to us because it comes directly from our membership, so it’s really their perception of the care and services we as a health plan provides to them.”
UPHP received a score of 90 points out of a possible 100, making them tied for the top program with three other systems.
This is not the first time that UPHP has received this honor of being a top rated program, and Holmquist believes the dedicated staff are a big part of what sets them apart.
“I think that UPHP is unique in our amazing team members that we have here that are truly committed to the mission and vision of the organization,” she said. “We are located right in the middle of the community in which we serve, and our people take this work very seriously and know how important it is.”
