HANCOCK, Mich. (WZMQ) – This winter season, the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club had its fair share of challenges, on top of grooming the 200-plus miles of trail and maintaining the grooming machines.
The Club will host its “Cookout and Bonfire” on Saturday, January 28th. The Club President Ryan Laporte commented that the trails in the winter are a unique way to view the Copper Country, and the bonfire and cookout is a great ways to tell trail stories and have good company.
“It’s really getting behind the bars of the snowmobile and riding the trail system there’s nothing like being able to cruise through some of the most pristine wilderness that we offer.”, said Laporte. “You can see it sometimes via foot or bike in the summer, but, you get to go on the snowmobile in the winter, it’s a totally different view”, he continued.
The cookout will be taking place at the Trailside Lodge, from 11 am to 4 pm on the 28th. The cookout will have lots of food, raffles, and a bonfire to warm up. The Keweenaw Snowmobile club hosts other events throughout the year such as their “Fall Trail Clean-up” and a “Club Ride”, dedicated to picking up after the trail has been ridden through.
