Michigan’s legislature has convened its first sessions of 2023, and The UP’s 38th district state senator, as well as the 110th district’s state representative, are back in the capitol for the new year.
Representative Gregg Markkanen said he’s excited to be back representing the 110th district “The 110th is an easy district to represent because it’s just full of good people.”.
With a few new team members representing The UP, McBroom said they’re excited to start working on solutions for The UP together, and hopes The UP Team will speak as a strong united voice.
Markkanen is entering his 3rd term representing the 110th district. He said he’s excited to continue the team’s work to help Yoopers and support the local business owners of The UP.
It’s the first time in decades that Michigan’s State Senate has had a democratic majority, but both legislators are confident they can still work to make sure The UP has what it needs. Senator McBroom said he doesn’t see it changing anything for them, and that They’ll still work to come up with the best plans to make sure The UP stays included.
Things are starting to liven up here in The Capitol, and our representatives can’t wait to get to work
