ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – A wood stove is to blame for a garage in Ishpeming Thursday evening.
It happened just after 5 p.m. at 604 S. Pine St.
The Ishpeming Fire Department arrived on scene to the garage filled with heavy smoke and visible flames.
Firefighters were able to get inside and knock the fire down. It was extinguished by 7:30 p.m.
Fire crews determined the fire was caused by the wood stove in a rear furnace room and spread through the ceiling.
The garage was unoccupied at the time, and there were no injuries. The garage is a total loss.
Ishpeming Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Marquette County
Rescue, Ishpeming Police Department, Marquette County Central Dispatch,
UPPCO and Semco.
