MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – Northern Michigan University held its annual “Day of Giving” event on November 29th, helping to raise funds for campus organizations and other scholarship opportunities.
Gaining support from Alumni and NMU donors, the NMU Foundation was able to raise over $900,000.
“All individuals face challenges when they are looking to accomplish a goal. At NMU, we believe in the whole student, we wanna make sure that we’re not only providing the best education to them but the right resources for them to earn a degree…”, says the Director of Annual Giving with the NMU Foundation.
These funds will be used in a multitude of ways, one of which is to help out three big projects and programs that add to the Northern Michigan experience.
On their donation page, there are links to funds that the community can still donate to. The Sustainability Hub for Innovation and Environment, or S.H.I.N.E., has a goal of reaching $8,500 in funding. As of December 6th, the team at S.H.I.N.E. has 67% of that donation request filled. This is to help launch their experiential learning and research on the U.P. Land Conservancys’ Dead River Forest.
