MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – The Upper Peninsula’s tradition of ‘Ladies Night’ takes place Thursday, November 17th, and Friday, November 18th. In the U.P., it’s become almost a ‘launch day’ for firearm season. This event invites the community to head out on the town and shop through the local stores and establishments.
The Women’s Center here in Marquette cohosts Ladies Night while offering passport purchases for all the events. A suggested donation of two dollars opens the door to many prizes and giveaways, that supports the Women’s Centers’ mission of protecting and advocating for victims of sexual assault and abuse.
People gather together to enjoy a night on the town as local shops and businesses throughout downtown offer specials, holiday goods, and more. “Once you reach ten business or ten ticks on your passport you then return that to us and that qualifies you for a raffle at one of the six gift baskets where all the different participating businesses kind of donated an item. And some of these baskets are pretty darn good”, said Micheal Bradford, Business Outreach and Promotions Director for the Marquette Women’s Center.
