MARQUETTE, MI (WZMQ) – The Michigan State Police are putting on their annual coat drive this fall.
The Marquette 8th district head quarters and the calumet post are collecting new and lightly used winter jackets.
The coat drive is a partnership with nonprofit group “in the image” to bring resources to those in need before the winter weather hits.
The coat drive is an agency wide program for The Michigan State Police, posts across the state collect coats for shelters in their area.
All coats and any other winter gear dropped off in the red bins at each post will be donated to the local women’s shelter.
Especially up here, we are gonna have such a long winter. We see people without proper clothing in different instances that we’re dealing with, so, yeah. We definitely see it as being an important initiative, you know, that’s why we’re teaming up with this non profit group to be able to be part of the solution for that problem that we see on a daily basis.

Both the Marquette and calumet posts will be collecting jackets through November 25th.
