Ishpeming, Mich. (WZMQ)- Partridge Creek Farms in Ishpeming broke ground last Friday on their newest project, a 3 acre community care farm.
The farm is located right next to the Jasper light Senior Housing Facility and Ishpeming Middle and High schools. When completed the farm will host educational classes for people of all ages to learn about growing food and sustainable agriculture.
May Tsupros, the director of Partridge Creek Farm, has high expectations for what the farm can offer to the community saying “We’re building an intergenerational community farm that’s gonna support the learning of growing food and building community and also increasing the access to healthy fresh food for our community.”
As of now the farm plans to partner with schools in the area to provide hands on learning during class and use the food grown by the students in local school cafeterias. Allowing students to eat the very food they grow.
Construction on the new farm begins this week and is expected to take 5 years to complete.
