The Annual Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run was hosted by Northern Michigan University at the Superior Dome this past Tuesday.
The event, which has been around for 40 years and takes place in all 50 U.S. states, helps raise awareness and funds for Special Olympic athletes to cover the cost for any activities they choose to participate in.
This year’s run included officers from the Michigan State Police, as well as Marquette and Negaunee city police.
The Michigan Special Olympics has 3 other teams helping to raise awareness by running 750 miles across the State of Michigan beginning in Copper Harbor and ending at Belle Isle in Detroit.
