Marquette City Commissioners unanimously approved a tax increase during Tuesday evening’s meeting.
The 7-0 vote raises the city’s operating millage an additional 2.6731 mills to 17.5956 mills.
This will produce an additional $1.5 million in revenue for operations.
The owner of a home with a taxable value of $80,000 will pay an additional $213.85 per year.
The increase goes into effect July 1 and would be reflected in summer tax bills.
The City of Marquette said it has not raised its operating millage in 16 years.
