One of the projects receiving funding from the Community Foundation of Marquette is the Kid Cove playground.
The project received a $10,000 grant.
Organizers continue to raise the estimated $1.4 million needed for the construction project.
The groundbreaking for the playground is expected to happen this fall. Construction will start next spring.
Community Foundation of Marquette board president Tom Vear looks forward to seeing the finished playground.
“Actually, my children said they hate to see the thing change because they grew up in Kids Cove right now, but I think it’s a great opportunity to create a new playground that’s really welcoming to all,” said Vear. “It’s really a big part of Marquette. It’s a well-used space down there. It’s right in the heart of Marquette, and it brings in all the people from of the whole county, so it’s really fun to be part.”
