A man and woman from the Milwaukee area were injured in an explosion and fire in Marinette County on Sunday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
It happened at a mobile home on Payette Rd. at Bombers Rd. in the Town of Niagara around 8:50 a.m.
The man told first responders he was trying to light the propane furnace, which had gone out, when it happened, the sheriff’s office said.
The victims, who were both in their 50s, suffered serious injuries including severe burns, according to the sheriff’s office. Both were taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain and later transferred to another hospital in Wisconsin.
No foul play is suspected, the sheriff’s office said.
