NEW YORK, NY (WZMQ) – A warning that some young people aren’t getting enough time outdoors, and why an a-I may give you bad health advice.
A warning about going to an a-I for health advice. A study in Japan found that a-I chatbots are often biased in which drugs they recommend. Researchers say AIs tend to suggest brand-name drugs and treatments that show up most in Google searches. As a result, many patients may end up paying far more than they should for drugs, or even taking the wrong medication.
A new drug is showing promise in treating endometrial cancer. A New York University Langone Health study found patients who took the medication, called “Sac t-m-t”, had a 41 percent lower risk of their endometrial cancer progressing. The drug also lowered the risk of death by 32 percent. The study’s authors say the drug could become a standard treatment in the future.
Teenage boys in the u-s are spending less time outdoors. A survey published by the National Academy of Sciences found in 2010 that teen boys spent around an hour a day outside. But by 2023, that had dropped to 40 minutes a day. Notably, the amount of time teen girls spent outside hasn’t changed. Spending time outdoors offers many physical and mental health benefits, especially during adolescence.
