GLADSTONE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Gladstone law enforcement located a stolen vehicle during a high-speed chase on Monday.
Just before 5 a.m., a Gladstone Public Safety officer saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on M-35 by the high school. The officer attempted to stop the driver, but the driver did not yield.
The pursuit continued at speeds of over 80 miles per hour. It ended when the driver crashed into a “road closed” barricade on East Mapleridge Road. The officer then conducted a high-risk stop and took the driver into custody.
The subsequent investigation showed that the driver had stolen the vehicle from Menominee County earlier in the day. He was sent to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment before being lodged at the Delta County Correctional Facility.
The driver faces charges related to receiving and concealing stolen property, fleeing and eluding police, and driving without a license. WZMQ 19 will provide updates on this case as more information becomes available.
