GWINN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport has announced a temporary suspension of scheduled air service between Marquette and Minneapolis–St. Paul.
The suspension is set to begin after Labor Day. Airline representatives intend to reimplement the route next spring.
According to a press release, the adjustment comes amid industry-wide efforts to optimize airline schedules and allocate aircraft resources in response to elevated operating expenses, including increased jet fuel costs.
“While we are disappointed to see this route paused temporarily, we understand the operational and economic factors influencing airline scheduling decisions,” said Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport Manager David Erhart. “We remain committed to working closely with our airline partners to support the restoration of Minneapolis–St. Paul service in spring 2027 and to continue advocating for air connectivity and long-term network growth for residents, businesses, and visitors throughout the Upper Peninsula.”
Passengers affected by the suspension are encouraged to contact their airline directly about rebooking options, schedule changes, and alternative travel arrangements. Existing service to other destinations from Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport will continue as scheduled.
