ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A busy cruise ship season is officially underway in Escanaba.
Victory Cruise Lines brought its first ship to Little Bay de Noc on Sunday. A second ship made the voyage Thursday morning.
Passengers hopped onto buses to tour historic sites and local businesses. Guests on the art and wine excursion stopped by the East Ludington Gallery and Leigh’s Garden Winery, where they had a chance to taste five specially-curated wines.
This is the winery’s third year partnering with the Delta County Chamber of Commerce to provide unique experiences for cruise guests. Tasting room manager Kylee Owens says it has been a beneficial opportunity for Leigh’s.
“People are so excited to hear about our community, the things that we offer, and how everything is grown pretty much locally as well,” Owens said. “Our hope is that it drives more tourism, just from word of mouth even, from people coming in, doing the cruises, and then going back home and telling their loved ones how awesome their experience was here.”
Leigh’s Garden Winery visitors also received Yooper Bars and Fudge Pasties, courtesy of Sayklly’s Confectionery.
Victory Cruise Lines will return to Escanaba again on Wednesday, May 13, at 11 a.m. The ships dock at North Shore Marine Terminal and can be seen behind the Escanaba Public Library. For more information on this year’s cruise ship season in Escanaba, click here.
