ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – As the end of the spring semester draws near, Bay College students are seeing the results of their hard work.
Wednesday afternoon, Bay’s Escanaba campus hosted its ninth annual Poster Symposium. Students depicted what they’ve learned this academic year by creating posters, which they used to present their studies to faculty members and fellow students.
Poster topics included everything from early childhood education and music to physics and healthcare. Fourth-semester nursing student Kayla Swanson’s presentation focused on empowering women by teaching them how to identify early signs of breast cancer.
“Before doing this project, I really didn’t even know myself how to actually do a proper breast exam on myself,” Swanson said. “Learning about it for our class and for this presentation has made me feel more confident about being able to perform my own self-breast exam to detect breast cancer early.”
According to Bay College faculty, the Poster Symposium helps students develop presentation skills, enhance their resumes, and prepare for the future.
