MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Upper Peninsula residents interested in working in carpentry, now have a chance at an upcoming training experience.
As a combined partnership between the Carpenters and Millwrights Local Union 1510 and Michigan Works! U.P. Hammer Time Boot Camp is making a return this spring.
This is the second year the training program has been held, and is open to anyone with a highschool diploma or GED living in the U.P.
“The Hammer Time Boot camp teaches those hard skills on carpentry, job site orientation, and safety skills,” said Kaya Borghi, U.P. Michigan Works! talent services manager. “This also includes some soft skills that will be beneficial coming into a union and working with a diverse group of individuals.”
The Boot Camp is limited to 10 participants. Applications are open through March 23, with the program taking place over April 13-17.
