MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing person.

The Marquette Police Department is searching for 21-year-old Trenton Massey, who was last seen at approximately 3:08 a.m. on February 22, walking alone eastbound on the bike path between Seventh and Fifth Streets. Massey was recorded on video at 3:25am in the area of East Baraga Avenue and the Founder’s Landing Boardwalk. Massey appeared to be disoriented and having difficulty walking. He was wearing an olive green and black winter coat and black pants.

Massey may have been impaired and disoriented at the time of his disappearance and not dressed adequately for prolonged winter exposure. He is considered endangered due to the risks associated with hypothermia.

Massey may have been attempting to walk to his home on McMillan Street. He is described as 5’11” and 225 pounds, with brown eyes and reddish-brown hair.

On Monday, the Marquette Police Department stated that the search for Massey continues with the help of the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, citizens, and other emergency services organizations. Police have provided an overhead map of the most relevant search area. Marquette Police ask residents and businesses in the red shaded area to check camera footage from around 3:25 a.m. for signs of Massey.

The Marquette Police Department is also asking residents to check their property, including vehicles and buildings. The area in question is south of Washington Street from McClellan Avenue to the Lake Superior shoreline and south to Furnace Street.

To assist with the search efforts, Range Bank has opened its headquarters as a warming and rest location. Searchers can visit the headquarters, located on the Corner of Front Street and Washington Street, to warm up and grab some coffee, hot cocoa, and snacks.

“Our thoughts remain with everyone involved in the search for Trenton Massey,” a Range Bank representative stated in a press release. “We’re keeping Trenton, his family, and the entire NMU community close in our hearts.”

Anyone with information on Massey’s location should contact the Marquette Police Department at (906) 228-0400.
