STORY CORRECTION: According to the injured bicyclist, she remains hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery as of October 13, 2025.

ORIGNIAL ARTICLE:

NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A bicyclist is expected to make a full recovery after being struck by a vehicle on Friday.

At approximately 9:48 a.m., the Negaunee City Police Department responded to a crash on US-41 E near the Croix Street intersection. A blue Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Teal Lake Avenue when the driver, a 30-year-old male, attempted to turn west onto US-41. The driver then struck a 74-year-old woman who was riding her bicycle in the crosswalk, heading south.

A WZMQ 19 reporter on the scene saw numerous community members step in to provide first aid and guide traffic while the bicyclist waited for first responders to arrive. The woman was transported to UPHS-Marquette to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was found at fault.

The Negaunee City Police Department was assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police, the Negaunee City Fire Department, and UPHS-Bell EMS.
