MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Peter White Public Library in Marquette held a very special holiday ball tonight for area middle school-age students. The Yule Ball welcomed any student, despite where they went to school. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders donned their finest semi-formal wear to meet up with their friends and dance the night away. Library Teen Services Coordinator, Amanda Pierce says this is a chance for kids to make new friends and boogie down with students from other schools.
“It’s open to all the community members. so it’s not just one school,” said Pierce. “They’re here to have fun. it’s the only semi-formal event that they get. so they love to play dress up, and they get all dialed up. as you’ve seen all the gowns. there are short ones, long ones, and poofy ones, they all get dressed up. they have fun, and they’re just here to have a good time with their friends.”
In its third year, The Yule Ball has become a popular holiday tradition for area teens.
