ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Friday, Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers reported to two Escanaba businesses, but they weren’t responding to an emergency. Instead, they were collecting donations for a good cause
MSP is hosting its annual Stuff a Blue Goose campaign. Shoppers at Elmer’s County Market and Walmart donated cash, non-perishable foods for the Salvation Army, and gifts for the Delta and Menominee Counties Toys for Tots program.
Despite the freezing temperatures, troopers say they were glad to help those in need this holiday season. They were also encouraged to meet so many generous people throughout the day.
“This is just kind of something we do to give back to the community,” said Trooper Colton Richard. “We’re out here; people get to interact with us. We’ve been doing it for I don’t know how many years now, but doing our part to give back to the community I suppose.”
