Victories over Findlay and Wayne State
DETROIT – The NMU women’s swim team swept the dual meet from Detroit today, claiming victories over Wayne State and Findlay.
The Wildcats cruised past Wayne State 215 to 85, and downed Findlay 185 to 109.
The Wildcats recorded first-place finishes in eight different events and found the podium 26 separate times.
Elena Curti claimed two individual first-place finishes in the 200 and 100-yard free’s, was a member of the first-place 400-yard medley relay team where she swam butterfly, and was the lead-off in the second-place 400-yard free relay team.
Camilla Carbone finished first in both the 100 and 200-yard back, and was the leadoff in the second-place 400-yard medley relay team, swimming the backstroke.
Abbie Harned swept the boards, claiming first in both the 1 and 3-meter boards, Annika Wright claimed gold in the 500-yard free, second in the 400 IM, and third in the 200-yard free, and Annika Geyer claimed gold in the 1,000-yard free and fourth in the 200-yard fly.
Carlotta Santi finished second in all four of her events, Zoe DeKievit finished second in all three of her races, Becca Burrows and Sophia Moore both found the podium in all three of their events, Mia Strazny found the podium in three of her four events, and Kalina Ceglinski finished top-three in both of her dives.
