PICKFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Sault Ste. Marie woman was arrested after she allegedly entered a Pickford area home without permission and assaulted the homeowner.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5, a Michigan State Police – Sault Ste. Marie Post trooper responded to a resident on Townline Rd. in Pickford Township for a reported home invasion. Upon arrival, the trooper found 46-year-old Kimberly Backus who had allegedly entered the resident without permission. The resident belonged to a former acquaintance of hers, whom Backus also allegedly assaulted.
Backus was arrested for Home Invasion First Degree and Domestic Violence. She was lodged in the Chippewa County Jail.
Backus was arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in the 91st District Court. Her bond was set at $500 with conditions, and she was released. She is next due in court on Nov. 18. The defendant is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
