I’ve wanted to be a weather forecaster since I was in second grade. It is so nice to be able to work every day doing my hobby that I have loved my whole life.
I originally planned to work for the National Weather Service, but the advent of cable TV, technological advances, and a willingness to give TV a try changed that. Now, almost 40 years later, I continue to enjoy delivering the forecast across all the mediums of television and social media.
I received my American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in 1996. I also received the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the broadcasting field in early 2024.
When I’m not at work, I’m teaching meteorology at two universities. I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 children. I also like to hike, garden, and read in my spare time.
