MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Art on the Rocks festival held its 64th year with the help of the Lake Superior Art Society at Marquette Lower Harbor on Saturday. This event was started in 1959 by a group of Marquette artists as a showcase for them to present their work.
This year over 120 artists participated from all across the country. Art on the Rocks is open to all 2D and 3D art forms with 14 categories. This event has everything from paintings, jewelry, pottery, clothing, and more.
“It’s the community that’s what it comes down to for me personally, I grew up attending this event when it was still at Presque Isle it’s always been a part of my summers so to see it kinda come full circle and to be a part of the tradition now it’s so special” Tristan Luoma, Art on the Rocks Director.
Registration for Art on the Rocks next year opens from January 31st to March 31st, for more information go to the Art on the Rocks website or go to the Lake Superior Art Society website.
