NORWAY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The body of a Wisconsin man that was reported missing in the Norway area was found on Sunday afternoon.
According the the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, they first received a report of the missing man on July 13 from his wife, who thought he was in the Norway area.
The missing man was a 79-year-old from Oconto, Wisconsin, who was in the area to ride his dirt bike. His wife told deputies that he had left their home in Oconto around 10:00 am on July 13, to go to the Norway area to ride for a few hours, and then would return home. The wife further advised deputies that he was required to take medication due to a medical condition.
The mans vehicle and trailer were located at the ORV park and ride off the Norway Truck Trail at 7:28 am on July 14. Deputies responded to the area with the Sheriff’s ORV and began to search for the male.
The DNR Airplane located the male at about 12:40 pm on July 14, not far from where he parked his car and trailer. North Alert EMS arrived on scene and found that the male was deceased.
UPROAR ORV Club, North Alert EMS, Integrated Care EMS, DNR Conservation Officers, Breen and Felch Township Fire Department, and Nordic EMS also assisted in the search.
