MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette County Quilters Association held their Marquette Art Week craft Thursday at the Marquette Commons. The MCQA provided a multi-media craft where participants decorated tote bags with various patterns, fabrics, stencils, etc.
MCQA wanted to create a craft that not only includes children and adults but also a craft that even if someone doesn’t know how to sew can still enjoy. The event also had a reference to the Fibonacci sequence with the center of the sunflower flowing Fibonacci sequence.
“We could demonstrate but we decided no, let’s let the kids have full reign, we’ll supply the materials and then they can do their interpretation of the word grow,” Judy Parlato, Marquette County Quilters Association Member.
The Marquette County Quilters Association meets the first Wednesday of every month in the Peter White Public Library. For more information go to the MCQA home page.
