IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – *Story update: The tree was removed and power was restored at 8:18 a.m. CST.
Iron Mountain residents woke up to chaos after last night’s severe thunderstorms brought down a large tree near the intersection of Foster and W. A St. The fallen tree damaged power lines, leaving approximately 1400 people without electricity.
Representatives from We Energies confirmed the line was still energized and urged residents to stay at least 25 feet away from the area. They emphasized the danger, advising against any attempts to move debris or the downed tree.
A cleanup crew had been dispatched to address the hazardous situation and restore power to the affected residents.
