NEGAUNEE, Mich, (WZMQ) – This week Negaunee is starting work on a new playground.
Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron said the playground is the next step in an ongoing park project around Negaunee’s Old Town, and a part of the city’s overall plan to improve the downtown area.
The playground will have slides, tubes, and rocking animals, along with some more unique designs for play structures.
Heffron said the features fit in well with Negaunee’s history and culture.
“The design of this park overall by the parks and rec commission and other folks that have been involved in this process is to kind of match the nature in the surrounding areas,” said Heffron. “Also we’ll have a little bit of that iron ore heritage tied into it to some degree.”
This city plans to have the park finished for Pioneer Days, July 5 – 13.
