MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Friday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Marquette residents held their 29th Community Baby Shower event.
This event started with U.P. Health System nurses who wanted to provide help to mothers and children in need. Mothers and families drive around the loop stopping at each stand to learn about all the services.
This event specifically helps pregnant mothers and babies under six months. Marquette businesses that provide services for families and children gather to provide help and knowledge in any way they can. Items provided at this event are diapers, homemade sweaters, and blankets. There is also one big gift offered to each car: the families can pick from a stroller, high chair, crib, or car seat. The community baby shower committee was also passing out mini pasties provided by Iron Town Pasties.
“I believe that parents need to know that they’re not doing this alone. There’s a lot of support here. They don’t have to do this by themselves,” said Barbie Dupras, Community Baby Shower Committee.
Businesses like Women Center, U.P. Health Center, Co-Op, and others all joined to help the community, making sure no one family feels alone.
