MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – After 20 years, the Marquette Area Blues Festival will hold its final run over Labor Day weekend this summer.
Organizers plan to go out with a bang, and bring award-winning artists from all over the country.
Blues Fest Founder and Director Walt Lindala said the Marquette Area Blues Society (MABS) is very proud of what it was able to accomplish in 20 years.
“We brought great music to Marquette,” said Lindala, “made lifelong friends with these artists, we’re very proud of that. That’s why we wanted to maintain a certain standard and as we saw that it was becoming more difficult to do that it was better to end strong.”
The MABS members say they plan to continue having events outside of Blues Fest for years to come, and may even expand some of their events to Munising, Baraga, and other areas of the U.P.
