MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A fundraiser at a Marquette brewery over the weekend helped provide food for children in need.
Brits and Brews brought 5 local bands together to play hit songs from british musical artists. The concert, held at the Ore Dock Brewing Company, was free to enter with a suggested donation, proceeds went to JJ Packs who provide take home food packages to Marquette Area Public School students
According to organizers the need for food assistance to marquette children has risen recently.
“When covid hit we saw our numbers really spike, and now even though that has been easing off, with the price of groceries increasing we have seen our own numbers of kids needing packs go up and the price per pack has gone up pretty substantially in the last year,” remarked Heather Addison, a volunteer for JJ Packs.
