NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Negaunee City Council approved the purchase of the Vista Theater Annex building at Thursday night’s meeting.
The city paid $1 for the building and agreed to take over $18, in bills from the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council. The agreement with PAAC includes a clause stating the city will have to pay PAAC 50% of profits if it ever decides to sell the building,
According to City Mayor Dave Kangas the city’s intention is to restore the building and keep it as an entertainment venue for the foreseeable future.
“A lot of people are happy seeing it is going to be restored and brought back to its glory, it’s a good investment for the city and I think it will bring in a lot of activity,” remarked Negaunee Mayor Dave Kangas.
The PAAC says they will continue to assist the city with restoration efforts on the Theatre and Annex building and fundraising.
