MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – Restaurant Week has been taking over the city of Marquette this week, bringing pizza, ramen, and even a year-old sourdough starter.
For Day 4 of Restaurant Week, WZMQ was diving into the establishment with over 140 years of history and class, still to this day bringing the culture of the UP to the plate.
For Restaurant Week, the Vierling has daily specials like the Breakwall Brie Grilled Cheese, tomorrow the Mediterranean Whitefish, and don’t forget its classic Blueberry Wheat Beer. “It was moderately busy here people were out for restaurant week, but I don’t find it any more stressful than any other week,” commented Vierling Server Heather Taggart.
The Vierling holds a long history spanning over 140 years, the owners now Kristi and Terry Doyle still display the original stained glass and oil paintings from Martin Vierling’s collection.
“I enjoy watching people like wander around can I look at the art of course you can that’s why it’s up…and this cool thing it’s actually a swiss cheese machine people think it’s for brewing beer it’s not it’s actually upside down,” continued Taggart.
Servers note that the regulars coming in and out every other day is really what forms these establishments’ reputation over the years. “I really enjoy the little connections with the regulars, the little moments that occur when they walk in the door,” said Taggart.
