MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A UP club is preparing to get together and talk about bees.
The Superior Beekeeping Club will host its second annual UP Beekeeping Conference at the end of this month. The conference will be at Northern Michigan University’s Seaborg Center and will cover all aspects of beekeeping, from honey extraction to beeswax candle-making.
One of the event’s organizers says most people don’t realize just how important bees are.
“People are becoming much more aware of the critical role that bees play,” said apiarist Joel Lantz. “You know, one out of every three people eats because of bees. No bees?– One out of every three people starve. So you know, people are starting to realize that.”
The conference will be on Saturday, March 30, but registration closes on March 20. To register and find more information, click here.
