MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Contractors in the Upper Peninsula are being trained on the installation of energy efficient heat pumps.
On Thursday, February 29th, the Michigan Heat Pump Collaborative, started by UPPCO, is hosting a training summit for area contractors.
Beginning at the end of the year, $211-million dollars will be disbursed from the Federal Government in Energy Efficiency Federal Tax Credits.
The summit is being held in order to meet the expected demand for upgrades to heating and cooling systems. The training session will allow contractors to become certified in installation and maintenance for energy efficient heat pumps.
“The Michigan Heat Pump Collaborative and the Michigan Heat Pump Summit on Thursday is specifically to show those contractors and others, that the technology works, it is here, it has been here, and it has been working for close to 15 years,” remarked Andrew Mcneally the Manager of Energy Solutions at UPPCO.
