MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – With the UP200 Midnight Run Powered by NMU only 2 weeks away, the Marquette Police Department is preparing for road closures during the event,
According to the department road closures will begin late Thursday the 15th and continue into early Saturday the 17th.
Crews will begin work on the 100 block of East Washington Street and progressively work their way down the road. Law Enforcement will have closure signs in place and clearly marked detour routes throughout the duration of the event.
“They will maintain as many north-south entrances and exits off of Washington Street as long as they can but as the day goes on they will be closed down for the dog sled races,” remarked Captain James Finkbeiner, of the Marquette Police Department.
Roads are expected to open back up around 2 a.m. on the 17th of February.
