The Meijer State Games of Michigan returns to Marquette County Friday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 11. Everyone is welcome to sign up to compete in fun winter activities, including skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, curling, bowling, archery, and more.
Director Julie Shields says the Meijer State Games of Michigan is all about getting families and friends to participate in fun activities together and get some exercise in at the same time. It’s open to all ages and abilities, and there’s plenty of opportunities to watch others compete throughout the weekend as well.
Everything kicks off Friday, Feb. 9 at Marquette Mountain Resort. WZMQ 19 will present a special newscast live at the chalet at 6/7 CT followed by the opening ceremonies and parade of athletes at 6:30 p.m. when the Olympic-style cauldron will be ignited. The night will be capped off with a fireworks display at the ski hill and the rail jam.
