MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A tasty holiday tradition is getting a local twist this season with the help of Trenary Toast. In partnership with Marquette’s BotEco center, the Trenary Toast House Contest is giving gingerbread-makers a new challenge to boost local business and bring more popularity to downtown Marquette.
Those interested in participating can stop into the Trenary Toast Cafe on Washington St, sign up for the contest, and pick up two bags of Trenary Toast for building materials.
The BotEco Center said giving these traditions a local twist helps to shed light on some of Marquette’s original small businesses such as Trenary Toast Cafe and Friends of Ore Dock BotEco Center.
“One of the rules says you have to have everything edible but you don’t have to like what you put in there. For people who don’t have a tradition of making gingerbread, hey, start a new tradition,” commented Marquette BotEco Center’s Board President Gisele Duehring.
Community members interested will have until December 7th to build and turn in their houses. Click here for more information on the Trenary Toast House Contest.
