HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – Santa is making his way throughout the UP, spreading the Christmas cheer and in just a couple of days he’ll be making his way to the copper country. The Hancock Business Association is partnering with the city to bring a “Miracle on Quincy Street”, launching the Christmas spirit. Members of the community will get to meet Santa as he leads the tree lighting ceremony, and participates in the Christmas parade down Quincy Street starting at 6 pm.
For a tradition that’s been standing for over 50 years, the snow on the way is only going to make starting the holidays that much more special. “We can’t allow bad weather to get us down if we did that we wouldn’t do anything right so the weather is not going to keep us down for this event we’re gonna have it if we have some snowflakes that are awesome it will get us in the Christmas spirit right,” commented Todd Gast.
Houghton County DDA also wants to remind the community that on Friday, Quincy Street will be closed from 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM for the safety of the community during the parade.
