UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. – Ryan Greenley, PharmD, Aspirus Upper Peninsula Hospitals’ Regional Manager of Pharmacies, has been named President-Elect of the Michigan Pharmacists Association (MPA).
Greenley is only the third pharmacy professional from the Upper Peninsula to be elected president of the MPA’s executive board. In his three-year term, Greenley will serve as President-Elect (2024), President (2025) and Chair (2026). Aspirus is proud to employ two of the three pharmacy professionals to serve in this capacity. Aspirus’ Jessica Bessner, Director – Regional Pharmacies, was named president-elect in 2018.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to continue working with my fellow MPA members to advance the pharmacy profession,” Greenley said. “Our goal is and will continue to be to provide quality health care to the residents of Michigan. Together, we can help guide efforts of the Michigan Pharmacists Association and ensure that the interests of our patients, community members and health care professionals are represented.”
Greenley has served on the MPA Executive Board since 2017 and served as president of the MPA-Upper Peninsula Division. Greenley’s personal affiliations include being a Trustee for the Michigan Pharmacy Foundation and Executive Board Member for the Michigan Pharmacists Association.
Greenley, a native of Houghton, Mich., is a graduate of Houghton High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and Pre-Medical Studies from Michigan Technological University. He received his doctorate degree in Pharmacy from Ferris State in 2012. Greenley joined Aspirus Health in 2019 as the Manager of Aspirus Keweenaw Pharmacies and was promoted to Manager – Regional Pharmacies for the Aspirus Upper Peninsula Region in 2021. As Manager – Regional Pharmacies, Greenley has facilitated many new initiatives and been involved in the growth of Aspirus in the Western U.P.

The MPA, as the leader of pharmacy professionals in Michigan, is the premier source of professional development, information and practice innovations. Through the active involvement of its diverse members, the MPA is an influential force in developing health policy and optimizing patient health, safety and medication management.
